HOW TO REACH :
Palampur lies at about the
centre of 200 km long Kangra Valley along its northern edge.
Airport : Kangra airport at Gaggal (35 km). Pathankot Airport

By rail : the nearest broad-gauge railhead of Pathankot (115 km) is
connected by express and super-fast trains to all parts of the country.
Many long distance trains reach here in the early morning, making it
convenient to reach Palampur for a late breakfast. Taxis are available at
the railway station for the journey to Palampur (about 2.5 hours).
A narrow-gauge line connects Pathankot with Palampur (with five services
daily each way). The journey takes about 6 hours but is a very pleasant
experience.
There is a broad-gauge railhead at Una - via Chandigarh (145 km from
Palampur). There is an overnight train from Delhi.
By road : Palampur can be approached by two routes from Delhi ; the
more convenient (535 km) via Ambala, Ludhiana, Phagwara, Hoshiarpur, Dehra
Gopipur, and Kangra, or (525 km) via Chandigarh, Rupnagar, Nangal, Una,
Dehra Gopipur, and Kangra.
There are deluxe buses from ISBT Delhi, Chandigarh, Dalhousie, Dharmsala
and Manali for Palampur.
There are Deluxe Volvo busses from Delhi to Baijnath ( via Palampur ), and
Delhi - Dharamsala.
Tourists could also travel upto Kangra on the Delhi - Dharamsala deluxe
bus, and then come to Palampur from Kangra ( 35 km ).
