Windamere is one of the "ten most romantic hotels in the world", according to a chic French lifestyle magazine.

Celebrated for its ambience, Windamere is regarded as a perfect example of an inn of the British colonial era, "a jewel of the Raj".

Built in the mid-19th century, Windamere was a cozy boarding house for bachelor English and Scottish tea planters. In early 1939, just before the outbreak of World War II, it was converted into a hotel.

ACCOMMODATION : The hotel has two wings: The Windamere and Little Windamere.

The Windamere wing is made up of Ada Villa and The Annexe. It appeals to those guests who want a sense of life as it was lived in the days of the Raj. The rooms are spacious with chintzy furnishings, and coal fires glow in the hearth at night. There are no televisions or telephones in the main house called Ada Villa. Telephone connections are provided in the Annexe only upon special request.

The Little Windamere wing appeals to those guests who wish to keep in touch with modern life even while enjoying the atmosphere and amenities of a bygone age.

Annandale House and Observatory House, residential properties, are part of Little Windamere, as is The Snuggery which houses the DHR Club. Both Annandale House and Observatory House are equipped with televisions and telephones.
  

All rooms have fireplaces. The furnishings are bright, cheerful and welcoming.

Generations of newly-wedded couples have enjoyed the quiet and ease afforded by Honeymoon Cottage. The cottage is set apart from the rest of the hotel, on a sunny little spur that rises just above Windamere's Ada Villa. Couples return to the cottage for anniversaries, to snuggle before the fire in the evenings, only to remember and to dream of days long ago.

There are 38 suites and bedrooms in all, at Windamere and Little Windamere.

RESTAURANTS : 
The hotel has a main dining room which seats up to 80 people and three smaller rooms that can each seat up to 12 people for intimate dining. The cuisine is Continental, Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan.

CONFERENCES : 
The Windamere Conference Centre has played host to conferences of up to 40 people. It also provides an ideal setting for Board meetings. In recent times, the Centre has provided a meeting place for some notable organizations including two major international airlines (regional conferences of senior management); blue-chip Indian conglomerates (board meetings and senior management conferences); and a major foreign bank (board meetings and regional conferences).

Windamere sponsors the DHR CLUB. The club is open to people from anywhere in the world who can identify themselves as members in good standing of recognized railway societies. Members in good standing of mountaineering institutes, explorers clubs, geographical and botanical societies, are also admitted to the club. The club is housed in THE SNUGGERY, an attractive 19th century stone cottage, located on the hotel's grounds. It offers a congenial meeting place in cozy surroundings and has a reference library, and video playback equipment. A residential facility of eight double rooms, with or without meals, is available to club members at moderate rates.

~ Cancellation Policy ~
Full pre-payment on all bookings is required 30 days prior to arrival.
Cancellation received 16-30 days prior to arrival, will be refunded at the rate of 50%
Cancellation received 0-15 days prior to arrival NO REFUND will be paid.
