Amritsar - The Golden Temple is Amritsar's Taj Mahal. Everybody pays a visit there. For non-Sikhs, the real draw is however, the temple's halwa, a porridge soaked in clarified butter and nuts. Other temptations of Amristar are the spicy Amritsari macchi (fish), papad (a snack), naan (a stuffed bread) and woollens. Yes, this is where most of India's blankets come from.
